The project

A short drama written and directed by Matthew S. Krivolapov. A young couple stays in a decaying motel; as night falls, a conversation they cannot walk away from turns into a surreal night. The film was made with technical support from Macromedia University Berlin.

My role

I was credited with art direction and worked as second director and HR. I advised on the script and helped shape the concept and logline, found and managed the crew, scouted locations and sponsors, and kept the schedule and timing on set. On the art side I planned the hotel room set (my notes are below), styled the characters and sourced the props.

The challenge

Casting the right actors and finding props on a minimal budget. Two hours before one scene we still had no vinyl player. I found one at the lowest possible cost and the scene went ahead.

The result

The film is in post-production. I’ll add it here once it is released.
